Donald Robert Hegstrom ’46
DONALD ROBERT HEGSTROM died Dec. 15, 1992. He was born in New Ulm, Minn., and spent his early years in Red Wing. He joined our Class in 1942, after graduating from Eastern H.S. in Washington, D.C. Don served with distinction in the Pacific Theater during WWII and returned to Princeton in 1946, to major in psychology. Don lived in Foulke Hall and was a member of Campus Club.
After graduation, Don joined Shell Oil and worked for the New York Citizens Budget Commission. He then spent several years with Booz Allen Hamilton's institutional department, serving on the team that prepared Hawaii's Education Dept. for statehood. Later in his career, while heading his own consulting group, Don set up the Social Services Dept. in the city of Savannah, Ga., which he then managed successfully for many years.
Don lived on Tybee Island, Ga., with his wife, Peggy, who died two years before him. He is remembered as a valued friend and distinguished classmate, especially by John Witherspoon, John Kimball, and Slicers Blumberg. The Class extends its sincerest sympathy to his son Don Jr. as well as to the other members of his family.
