Donald Wilson ’22

DONALD WILSON died peacefully in his sleep June 15, 1991, after suffering from pneumonia for about a month. He was the youngest of four brothers that attended Princeton, and he was very active with family, business, and community for all of his adult life. Don was involved in more than a dozen local, state, and national organizations, including the Boys Club, the United Way, and the U.S.O. His son Donald '51 called him the "quintessential volunteer." He told a grandson that "he enjoyed working with people."

He was president of Smith, Wilson Brothers Insurance Co. until his retirement in 1987 and had been an 18time winner of the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company Award for service to policy holders. Don was an Army veteran and was honored last summer at a family gathering in Binghamton, He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Elizabeth; two sons, Donald '51 and John; and nine grandchildren. He had been in excellent health until May and enjoyed a trip to Florida last winter where he was visited by his grandchildren. He was devoted to Princeton and to the Class of'22 and had been looking forward to the 70th Reunion.
