Douglas B. Northcutt ’69

Body

Doug was born Aug. 15, 1944, and died Feb. 1, 2025, at age 80 of complications following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

As a student attending Center Senior High School in Kansas City, Mo., Doug excelled in science and served as president of the student council. He was an Eagle Scout and junior assistant scoutmaster at age 16. As the conflict in Vietnam was escalating, he enlisted in the Army immediately after graduating in 1962. He applied to and graduated from the Army’s Artillery and Missile Officer’s Candidate School in Oklahoma, served as an instructor and platoon leader, and was honorably discharged as a second lieutenant in 1965.

Following his military service, Doug was accepted to Princeton. He majored in engineering physics, was a member of Cap and Gown, and was class vice president our sophomore year.

Upon graduation, Doug became interested in the rapidly growing field of computer science and embarked on a career in medical information systems management. Starting out as a software systems engineer, his nearly 40-year IT career included senior management positions with Ernst & Young and major multi-hospital health-care systems in four states. He retired in 2008 after serving eight years as senior VP and CIO at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas.

Doug was a person of deep faith. We send our sincere condolences to Jeanette, his wife of 50 years.
