DOUGLAS STEIMLE DIED DEC. 14, 1994, of Alzheimer's disease in Shelburne, Vt. He was 92.

Douglas was a retired attorney with the firm Shearman and Sterling in N.Y.C. He graduated from Harvard Law in 1929. He joined Sherman and Sterling after law school and worked there until he retired in 1985. During WWII. he served in the Navy, attaining the rank of lt. commander. In 1982, he moved to his summer home, in Greensboro, Vt.

In 1937, he married Hildegarde Gauss, the daughter of Dean Christian Gauss. They had two children.

At various times he served on the board of directors of the Combustion Engineering Corp. and Airco Corp. He also served as a director of several mutual funds.

He was an avid fan of Princeton football, spending many fall afternoons in Palmer Stadium. He also enjoyed gardening and an occasional round of golf. He was a member of Campus Club and the Princeton Club of N.Y.C.

A memorial service was held Dec. 26 at the Greensboro United Church of Christ. Contributions may be made m the Alzheimer's Assn., Green Mountain Chapter, 2 Moonlight Terr., Montpelier, VT 05602.
