Douglas A. Loper ’39

Body

DOUG DIED Aug. 17, 1994, at a hospital in Lake San Marcos, Calif., following surgery for a broken hip.

Doug devoted his entire engineering career to Abbott Labs, first in Chicago, and, after 1968, in L.A., as v.p. and president of Alpha Therapeutics, a division of Abbott Laboratories.

In our 50th yearbook, he said the "UP" items in his life were his eight grandchildren, his transfer to California, and his golf. At his side through all the joys of living was his wife, Julia Ogden. Married in 1941, they raised a family of four: daughter Suzanne and sons Charles, Robert, and John. We share their sense of loss and extend to them our sympathy.
