Doug graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1959. He completed residency training in psychiatry and then served in the Air Force. He practiced psychiatry in Edina, Minn., helping many people over his career. An avid reader and bicyclist, he loved kayaking in the Gulf after he retired to Sanibel Island, Fla.
