E. Justin Wilson Jr. ’38 *41

Justy prepared for Princeton at Phillips Exeter Academy. At Princeton he majored in chemistry, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated with high honors. He was on the 150-pound football team, lettering in all three years, was co-manager of the Student News Agency, and belonged to Cloister Inn. Freshman and sophomore years he roomed alone in Pyne. Junior and senior years he roomed with Frank Satterthwaite and Jim Davisson at 617 Laughlin.

After graduation, Justy continued at Princeton and earned a Ph.D. in chemistry. He was a DuPont Fellow and this led to a Corn Industry Research Foundation fellowship and subsequent work at Sperry Gyroscope.

Justy partnered with Jim Mullen ’39 in a venture called Experiment Inc. In 1950 they incorporated as Flight Research Inc. to manufacture precision instruments and cameras. Justy next moved to Redwood, Calif., taking a position as assistant director of research with the controls division of American Standard. He became president of this division.

By 1987, Justy had become president of E.J. Wilson Associates Inc. in San Carlos, Calif.  He resided nearby at Portola Valley. Shortly before he died he moved to Carlsbad, Calif.

Justy is survived by his sister, Julie Wilson, and his children, E. Justin III, Christopher, Deborah W. Sands, and Thomas, to all of whom ’38 sends sincere sympathy.
