EARL DIED July 20, 1994, at Arbors Nursing Home in Ft. Wayne, Ind., of congestive heart failure. He lived most of his life in Ft. Wayne, where he was in the retail business until 1984. He was past president of Earl Groth & Co. Dept. Store and past president of John Earl, Inc., Ladies' Apparel. Dur­ing WWII, he served in the Quartermaster Corps. He was long an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church, serving a number of years on the board of elders.

Earl is survived by his widow, Joann; a daughter, Julie Edwards; and two sisters, Maxine Groth Jacobs and Virginia Groth Walsh. To all of them, the class extends its sincere condolences.
