Edgar Lewis Marston II ’33

ED MARSTON died in London on Sept. 23, 1989. A service was held on Sept. 29 at the First Presbyterian Church in New Canaan, Conn., where Ed had lived for many years. Hank Beardsley represented the class at the service.

Ed was born on Mar. 30, 1911, grew up in N.Y.C., and prepared at St. Mark's. At Princeton, he was on the business staff of the Tiger and roomed with Hank Beardsley and Bob Moffett. Although he left college early, he became a member of Cap and Gown. After leaving Princeton, Ed worked at Glore Forgan in N.Y.C. until WWII, when he entered the Army Air Force. He emerged from the war a lieutenant colonel. After the war, Ed was associated with several organizations, including the Empire Trust Co., before he joined the Ross Agency (travel and real estate), of New Canaan. He later became its president, Ed also had business interests in England and spent some time there. He was a member of the Racquet and Tennis and Union clubs of N.Y.C. and also had a lovely house, Canaan Hill, in Tucker's Town, Bermuda,

In May 1933, Ed married Florence Carr, They had two children, Joanne Louder and Edgar III, and were later divorced, On Sept. 9, 1961, he married Mary Benson, who survives him as do three stepchildren, L. G. Ross, Elizabeth Horn, and Dennis Benson Ross, and two brothers, Hunter S. Jr. and George, To all the family the Class of '33 expresses its deep sense of loss.
