Edmund Lee Woodham Il ’34

ED LEE, a former Class president (19634) and internationally known rugby figure, died of cancer peacefully Aug. 11, 1991, his 79th birthday. Last June, aware of his impending fate, he submitted a proposed obituary, from which the following is excerpted.

Having captained and played on Princeton's championship rugby football team in 1934, Ed never lost his love of the game. He played while at Yale Law School and then for N.Y. Rugby Football Club, which he captained. He was cofounder, officer, director, and attorney since 1954 of the Eastern Rugby Union of America, supervising 340 Rugby clubs in 22 states.

Ed is survived by his wife, Sylvia Sanford (Sandy) Lee; a daughter, Dorinne (Mrs. William) Reiley; a son, Sanford E. (Pete) Lee; two grandsons; a twin brother, Dr. Lyndon E. Lee Jr.; and a sister, Mary Lee (the widow of R.D.) Brooks.
