Edward C. McLean Jr. ’57
Ted died Nov. 3, 2010, of respiratory failure.
He prepped at Deerfield before Princeton. At Princeton, he majored in history and roomed with Osander, Hoxworth, Alexander, Miller, Jones, and French.
Ted was president of Tower Club in ’57 and bicker chairman in ’56. After graduation, he attended Harvard Law School, from which he graduated in 1960. After six months in the Army, he began practicing law in New York with Chadbourne Parke. His specialty was litigation, which he practiced from 1961 to 1994. He continued to divide his time between Chappaqua, N.Y., and Sanibel, Fla.
Ted served on the New Castle Planning Board, and on the Conservation Board and Conservation Advisory Council in Chappaqua. He studied McLean genealogy and collected shells, but his family was his greatest passion.
The class extends sympathy to his wife of 49 years, Jennifer; children Alison, Elizabeth ’88, and Thomas; his brother, Alan; and four grandchildren. Gifts in his memory may be made to the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum, P.O. Box 1580, Sanibel, FL 33957.
