Edward G. Crum Jr. ’55

Ed died April 28, 2010, in Summit, N.J., after a long illness. He came to us from Wilmington Friends School. At Princeton he majored in the SPIA.

In our 1955 at 50 book, Ed enthusiastically remembered “Constitutional Interpretation” taught by the brilliant Professor Alpheus T. Mason. Senior year, Ed roomed with Don Hellmann, Don Altmaier, and Lee Battles.

Ed spent his entire 33-year business career with New Jersey Bell (now Verizon), starting as a sales representative and retiring as assistant vice president for public relations at company headquarters in Newark.

He devoted his talents to various community and charitable activities, including as registrar of Calvary Episcopal Church and a member of the church’s adult education and stained-glass windows committees. Ed served as president of the Advertising Club of New Jersey and the Newark Community School of the Arts, board member of the Summit Speech School, and member of the Summit Chorale public relations committee.

To his wife, Gloria; children Katherine, Andrew, and David; grandchildren; family; and friends, the class sends its sympathy.
