Edward Gounoud ’40

Body

AFTER A LONG FIGHT with a series of illnesses, Ed Green died at his Princeton home Sept. 6, 1991. From Brooklyn Poly Prep, Ed reached a high level of excellence as varsity basketball captain and All American lacrosse player. A psychology major, he joined Tiger Inn, and roommates Buck Jordan, Mac Mackenzie, and Ben Tate remained his lifelong close friends. Ed was chairman of our ninth and tenth reunions, and in 1983 he generously sponsored the Franklin CapponEdward G. Green '40 Basketball Coaching Endowment.

After WWII, as an army officer in the Pacific, Ed returned to the family printing firm and went on to acquire Pandick Press, Inc., specializing in financial and legal printing. His imaginative and visionary leadership placed Pandick in the industry forefront as one of the largest and most successful companies of its kind in the world, due to his early recognition that computerized typesetting held the key to the future.

Ed is survived by his widow, Polly; two daughters, Arden Moulton and Tracey Whitney; and four grandchildren. To them the Class extends its sympathy and shares their loss of Ed, who so totally lived up to his Princeton promise and responsibilities of later life.
