Edward Joseph Connolly ’36

ED DIED Nov. 1, 1989, at his home in Brightwaters, N.Y. He was born Apr. 2, 1915, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

He prepared at Polytechnic Preparatory School. At Princeton he majored in politics and was a member of Key and Seal. He was a graduate of Columbia Law School, and for many years was a partner of the law firm of Connolly, Frey, Eschmann and La Pasta. He was a former president of the Brooklyn Bar Assn. and a member of the House of Delegates of the New York Bar Assn.

In 1942 he enlisted as a private in the U.S. Army. He participated in several island landings in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged as a captain, Judge Advocate Dept., in Mar. 1946.

Ed is survived by his widow, Edythe S. Connolly; daughter, Jane C. Schwarz; son, Edward J. Connolly Jr.; six stepchildren, William, Claire, Kevin, and Brian Sheahan, Kathleen Burke, and Jane Murphy; two sisters, Grace Belford and Jean Young; three grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.

Ed served Princeton well in fundraising and was active in the Princeton Alumni Assn. of Brooklyn. We remember Ed as a kind and thoughtful classmate.
