Edward M. Koos ’38

Ed died Dec. 10, 2010, in Mount Holly, N.J., at age 94. He was born and lived his entire life in New Jersey.  

Ed graduated from Newark Academy, and at Princeton he majored in politics, was on the freshman baseball team, and served as sports manager of Campus Club. Freshman, sophomore, and junior years he roomed with Harry Lane in Henry dorm. Senior year he roomed with Lane in South Dod.

After graduation, Ed, along with his father and uncles, owned and operated Koos Brothers Furniture in Rahway. He later was vice president of Marco Chemical in Linden, N.J., retiring in 1965. He owned the Bay Point Harbor Yacht Sales Co. during the 1980s and 1990s.

Ed was always an avid Jersey coast sportsman and was active in community affairs. He belonged to the Presbyterian Church of Millstone, was a 32nd-degree Mason, and was a member of the Manasquan River Yacht Club and the Manasquan River Marlin and Tuna Club.

Ed was predeceased by his wife, Betty, in 1953, and a grandson, Walter Vogel, in 1983. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Susan Koos and Robert and Noreen Koos; a daughter, Betty, and son-in-law Stewart Fenick; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, to all of whom the class extends sincere condolences.
