Edward Savier Rising ’25

Ed Rising was born on Nov. 7, 1902, in Columbus, Ohio. Shortly thereafter, his family moved to Kew Gardens, N.Y., where he grew up. He entered Princeton from St. Paul's School, in Garden City.

At Princeton, he was a varsity swimmer and a member of Terrace. He left in our junior year and later graduated from N.Y.U. He worked for Kennecott Copper Co. for almost his entire career, retiring in 1962 as sales manager and V.P. of Kennecott Wire and Cable Co.

In 1930, he married Ruth Stillman. Their son and daughter are both deceased. He loved to fish, swim, and play golf at a camp they had in Vergennes, Vt. They also had a house in Middlebury, Vt. After he retired in 1974, they moved to Delray Beach, Fla. He died after a protracted illness on Apr. 29, 1989. He is survived by a brother, Albert Rising Jr. '39, who writes, "He was always deeply interested in Princeton."
