EDWIN FRANK Es I LE, at the age of5 1, distinguished economist, died suddenly at his home in Melrose, Mass., Dec. 8, 1978. Born in Bloomington, Ind., lie earned his B.A. from Purdue Univ. and his A.M. and Ph.D in economics from Princeton. He served as an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for ten years, before joining New England Telephone and Telegraph Company. He was also cofounder and a director of the New England Economic Project and a member of the National Assn. of Business Economists. Prior to his Purdue and Princeton studies, Edwin had served with distinction in the Korean War. He left military service with the rank of sergeant and was awarded tire Medal of the Purple Heart. His widow, Mrs. Anna M. Estle, survives him. We extend to her our sincere sympathies.
