Larry died Nov. 24, 2009, at the age of 81.  

Larry prepared at Wyomissing (Pa.) High School, and at Princeton he majored in psychology and graduated with honors. He was a member of the choir and the Glee Club. He earned a Ph.D. in psychology from Princeton in 1951.

Larry spent the first part of his career in academia, first as a teacher, then as an administrator at Florida State University in Tallahassee, where he rose to the position of vice president for academic affairs. In 1969 he assumed the chancellorship of Kansas University. In 1972 he moved to Chicago as president of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Goodman School of Theatre. In 1987 he moved to San Antonio and became president of the San Antonio Museum Association.

Retiring in 1993, Larry moved to Durango, Colo., and spent his time doing volunteer work as a park ranger at Aztec Ruins National Park. He was a passionate conservationist and loved Colorado’s Rocky Moun-

tains, where he built his own cabin.  

Larry is survived by three sons, Edwin Laurence III, Thomas, and Timothy; a daughter, Jill Francis Bartlow; and six grandchildren. The class extends its sincere sympathy to them on their loss.
