Edwin Tunnicliff Fox Jr. ’40

TUNNIE Fox died in Richmond, Va., Aug. 15, 1992. Son of Edwin Tunnicliff Fox '10, he grew tip in the N.Y.C.Long Island area and came to Princeton by way of St. George's School. He was a member of Colonial Club and participated in a number of J.V. and interclub sports. During WWII, Tunnie served as an officer in the Army Signal Corps in Africa and Europe.

After the war, Tunnie joined his father's insurance firm, Fox and Pier, Inc., in N.Y.C. Subsequently he moved to Warrenton, Va., where he owned Fox Hollow Farm and raised purebred Herefords. In addition, he owned and operated the Piedmont Tractor Co., a John Deere dealership. During this period, Tunnie was a volunteer in the Boy Scouts, 4H, and the Future Farmers of America. He was also a member of the Warrenton Rotary Club. In 1970, Tunnie moved to Richmond, where he became a member of the West Richmond Rotary Club. He was very active in the Rotary Club and in a host of community and civic affairs. Sailing, bird hunting, golf, weaving, and model railroading were among his special interests.

Tunnie is survived by his widow, Julia H., and son Ralph C. A second son, Townsend D., died in an automobile accident in 1985. We extend to them our sincere sympathy in the loss of our classmate Tunnie.
