Elizabeth Hartmann Ann Kennedy ’84

Beth Ann, the wife of John Kennedy '84, died suddenly on Feb. 22, 1989, of a pulmonary embolism. She was five months pregnant when she was stricken at the Univ. of Washington after teaching a class in English literature. Beth Ann studied English and art history at Princeton, and she was a doctoral candidate in English literature with a concentration in Irish studies at the Univ. of Wash¬ington. She received her M.A. in June 1988.

In their three and a half years of marriage, John and Beth Ann lived in England and Ireland and backpacked extensively in the U.S. During their junior year at Prince¬ton, Beth Ann and John studied at Edinburgh Univ. and Trinity College (Dublin), respectively. After graduation, they were married and settled in Bayport, N.Y., where Beth worked at Dowling College in an administrative post. Beth Ann was a woman of many talents: she played the classical piano, cooked, made her own clothes, back¬packed, and fixed the brakes on the old station wagon.

Beth Ann's hometown was Princeton. A Mass was said at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, and burial followed in Princeton Cemetery.
