Elleard Buridan Heffern ’36

AT 79, HEFF DIED Sept. 20, 1993, after a long illness. He prepared at St. Louis Country Day School. At Princeton, he majored in modern languages and literature and was a member of Cloister Inn.

After graduation, Heff joined his father's firm, HeffernNeuhoff jewelry Co. of St. Louis, which was founded in 1913. In the early 1950s, Heffserved as president of the firm. Some time later, he liquidated the company and started his own under his name. He was chairman and president of this new concern until retirement. For years, the firm designed and sold individualized jewelry, winning several major prizes for outstanding creations. A son, Christopher E., has been running the company since Heff retired.

During WWII, Heff spent three years in the army, and was stationed in India and China. He retired as a captain and was awarded the Bronze Star. He is survived by his wife, Beulah "Jo" Heffern, whom he married in 1942 in New Delhi, India; a daughter, Mrs. G. S. Duhn; sons John A., Christopher E., Patrick A., and Gregory G.; a sister Virginia Wilding; and 12 grandchildren.

Heff was a man of many talents. He will be remembered as a loyal Princetonian.
