ELWYN LIONEL PERRY died Feb. 22, 1994, at his home in East Harwich, Mass. He was 91. Born in Reading, Mass., on Dec. 2. 1902, he grew up on a farm near Reading, graduated from Reading H.S., and got his bachelor's in geology from Tufts Univ. in 1923. Graduate study in the geology dept. at Princeton followed.

In 1928, he joined the faculty of Williams Col­lege as an instructor in geology and eventually became chairman of dept. He retired in 1968. During his tenure, he was active in Williamstown municipal affairs, especially with the town finance committee. He also devoted much time and effort to North Berkshire efforts on behalf of retarded citizens. Upon his retirement, the Perry family relocated to Chatham, Mass., where they remained until 1987, when they moved again, to East Harwich.

Professor Perry is survived by his widow, Ruth; two sons, Blair and Richard; and a daughter, Joan. To all the Perrys, we extend deepest sympathy.
