Ernest H. Nelson Jr. ’61

Body

TOBY NELSON died on Apr. 28, 1988, in N.Y.C. Born in Stamford, Conn., in 1940, he prepared for Princeton at Avon Old Farms School. At Princeton, he was in the Glee Club, managed the basketball team, majored in the Woodrow Wilson School, and was a member of Campus Club. After service as an officer in the Navy, Toby em¬barked on a wonderfully varied career that included teaching, the stage, public relations, real estate, model and talent management, and fundraising. In the three years prior to his death, he owned a house-restoration business in Rhinebeck, N.Y. Toby never married.

Toby's sister, Nan Gastler, of Portland, Conn., wrote: "I wish there were some way for Toby's Princeton friends and classmates to have known the very special man my brother was. . . . he loved life, cared deeply for people, and practiced an unselfish commitment to making this world a better place."

We had not seen much of Toby since graduation, and we share the sorrow of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest H. Nelson, of Bradenton, Fla., and his sister.
