ERNIE DIED Apr. 19, 1994, at his home in Sewalls Point, Fla. He prepared at East Orange H.S. At Princeton, he was in the Glee Club and choir and he roomed with Blair Birdsall.

His business career started in industrial banking; for 12 years he was a partner of F. S. Moseley in Chicago. He joined Sprague Electric Corp. in 1946, serving as v.p. and then, for 15 years, as president. When he started, Sprague had three plants and 3,000 employees; when he retired, they had 14,000 employees in 10 plants worldwide.

He was always an active alumnus, including supporting the Life Income Fund for student aid, and was Annual Giving chair for the Northern Berkshires. His first wife, Priscilla Saveland, died in 1986. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Jean; two daughters, Priscilla Hoover and Sarah Sluster; a stepson, Daniel B. '50; and a brother, Douglas E. '35. The late John C. Ward '37 was also his brother. The class extends its sympathy to Ernie's family.
