F. Morgan Taylor Jr. ’53

Buzz died Oct. 29, 2010, at his home in Hobe Sound, Fla.

He grew up in the Chicago area and graduated from Western Military Academy in Alton, Ill. At Princeton he played varsity football as a defensive halfback on the 1950, 1951, and 1952 teams that had a cumulative record of 26-1. He also was captain of the track team, excelling in the long jump.

Following his Army service, Buzz joined Olin Industries and Victor Comptometer, and later became chairman and principal owner of Aqua Vac Systems, a swimming pool-equipment manufacturing company that he recently sold.

An avid golfer, he served as president of the U.S. Golf Association from 1997 to 1999 and opposed certain golf club technologies that were affecting the game. A dispute ensued but Buzz prevailed and his contributions to golf were broadly recognized.

Buzz had an army of friends including many from ’53 and nearby classes. Memorial services will be in Florida this winter and Chicago next summer. We extend our sympathies to his wife, Barbara; their sons, F. Morgan III ’77, John F., Spencer O., and James W.; his brother, James K. ’55; sister Kaye Taylor Patterson; and 10 grandchildren.
