Francis B. Bowman ’21

THE CLASS lost one of its most loyal and hard working members Jan. 24,1992, when Francis B. Bowman, at 92, died in his longtime home in Somerville, N.J. He had been Class treasurer for 31 years. He had a near perfect record of reunion attendance and had served the Class on many committees.

Fran was born in Cleveland and attended the Hackley School in Tarrytown, N.Y., where he met Gill Cisco-Smith, with whom he roomed all four years at Princeton. At Princeton he rowed on the junior varsity crew and was president of Cloister Inn.

His entire business career was with Chase Manhattan Bank, where he retired a vice president.

Fran married Dorothy Giles in 1926. She died several years ago. There were no children. The Class extends sympathy to his nephew Eric Smith, who, with his wife, Elizabeth, lived with Fran in his later years.
