Francis Marling Harris ’36
BUCKY DIED at home June 17, 1993, of cancer. He prepared at Phillips Exeter Academy. At Princeton, he majored in political science and belonged to Charter.
He had an impressive sixyear WWII record, serving with the field artillery in the U.S, with the general staff in Iceland, and in the European Theater at the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Expeditionary Forces. He co-wrote General Dwight Eisenhower's farewell address to his troops. Bucks, received the bronze star and retired as a It. colonel.
Bucky moved to Santa Cruz, Calif., in 1948 and joined the brokerage firm of Richey, Baikie and Alcantara. He later moved to Palo Alto, joining the Bank of California in San Francisco. In 1969, he returned to Santa Cruz, serving as senior v.P. and senior trust officer of County Bank, from which he retired in 1978. Bucky divided his time between homes in Santa Cruz and Palm Springs. He had served as chairman, trust division of the California Bankers Assn, from 196970 and was on the executive committee of the Santa Cruz Dominian HosP ital Foundation. His interests were swimming, horses, tennis, and genealogical research.
Bucky is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara; daughters Marina H. Zuetell, Marcia H. McCloskey, and Laurie H. Agnew; five grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.
He was indeed proud of his Princeton heritage.
