Frank Culver Cheston Jr. ’35

Frank Cheston died March 25, 2008, in Warren, N.J.

Born in Woodstock, Ontario, Frank was raised in South Orange, N.J., and came to Princeton from Columbia High School. At Princeton, he majored in economics and roomed in Little Hall with Al Faber.

After graduating from Harvard Law School, Frank served in the Army Judge Advocate General’s office during World War II and at the Pentagon during the Korean conflict. He worked for the law firm of White & Case until 1953, when he joined Western Electric Co. He later was transferred to Sandia Corp. and Bell Laboratories. A resident of Summit and Chatham, N.J., for 38 years, Frank was a trustee of Central Presbyterian Church and a director of the Summit Area Old Guard.  

He and Cecile were married for 63 years. They enjoyed Reunions and other alumni events and joined classmates and their wives several times for vacations in Jamaica.

Frank and Cecile had four children, Sharon, Frank, Richard ’71, and Christopher (deceased). Frank is survived by Cecile, his three children, and three grandsons, including Tim ’08, who is carrying on the Princeton tradition to three generations of Chestons.
