Frank Garnett Hatfield ’36

Body

FRANK DIED Sept 13, 1989, in Denver, Colo., of heart failure. He was born Nov. 13, 1913, in Bedford, Ind., and graduated cum laude from Culver Military Academy, where he was a cadet officer and was active in football, basketball, and crew. He was named the best all-around athlete in the school. At Princeton, he was a psychology major, was on the basketball team, and was a member of Cloister Inn.

During WWII, he was executive officer of an L.S.T. for three years and participated in the Normandy invasion. He was honorably discharged by the Navy as a lieutenant (j.g.). After the war, he was a partner and manager of Hatfield Motor Sales Co. in Bedford, Ind. Frank and his family next moved to Miami, where he was employed in Boys' Club administration. He also served as manager of a local abstracting office. In 1968 the Hatfields moved to Arizona, where Frank was employed as general manager of Meteor Crater Park until 1975. At that time he moved to Denver and was employed by Pianos Unlimited and Heritage Piano until his death.

Frank is survived by his widow, Jane, son Dr. Philip M., daughters Judy Scherschel, Ann Wall, and Suzanne Owocki, brothers Howard S. and Philip A., and 11 grandchildren. We regret that we had not heard from Frank in his later years. Those of us who knew him will indeed miss this fine gentleman.
