Frank Ross ’26

Body

FRANK ROSS, a Hollywood film producer, whose movies included THE ROBE, the first wide-screen feature, died on Feb. 18, 1990, at an L.A. hospital, following brain surgery. Frank, who was 85, came to Princeton from Exeter, but left at the end of freshman year, in June 1923. For many years Frank was an inactive member of '26.

After several years in the construction business, Frank became an actor in Hollywood, and then a producer. He was an associate producer of John Steinbeck's OF MICE AND MEN, followed by other well-known productions. A biblical epic, THE ROBE, was ten years in the making. His three marriages, to Jean Arthur in 1932, to Joan Caulfield in 1950, and later to Joan Bradshaw, ended in divorce. Frank is survived by a brother, Richard C. Ross, and a son, to both of whom we extend sympathy.
