Frank Van Deventer Cortelyou Jr. ’49

Body

Frank died Jan. 21, 2008, at the age of 81.

He prepared for Princeton at Mercersburg. At Princeton he majored in biology and was a member of Cloister Club.

Frank’s career started with the Ritter Seed Co. in Bridgeton, N.J., as a plant breeder. He opened his own florist company there before moving to Toledo, Ohio, for a position with ConAgra in agricultural research. He retired in 1991 and moved back to Bridgeton. In retirement he continued his love of agricultural research as a hobby while enjoying his family, particularly his grandchildren.

Frank is survived by his wife, Elaine, whom we thank for providing the information about Frank’s life; two daughters, Jan Ellen Lee and Patricia Sue Hamilton; and three grandchildren. The class extends its sincere sympathy to them on their loss.
