Frank W. Beatty Jr. ’51

FRANK DIED of a stroke Nov. 10, 1993. At Princeton, he was a classics major, president of the yacht club, and a member of Dial Lodge. He was a Seattle securities broker for many years, lastly with A. G. Edwards & Son, and chairman of the board of Secret Harbor School on Cypress Island, Wash.

Frank's great love was sailinganytime and pretty much anywhere, but particularly around the San Juan Islands in Puget Sound. Be was an accomplished skipper. Few classmates were as popular as Frank. With his unfailing cheeriness, helpfulness, and inexhaustible supply of jokes, he made everyone's day brighter.

From his children's remarks at his memorial service: "There was not a day in his life that Frank failed to tell someone that they were special ... He made sure that they were loved. He showered good will on every soul he met." "When you looked through his eyes, the reasons for any conflict seemed invented, ridiculous, unknown, or waiting to be discovered."

Frank is survived by Esther, his widow; son Frank 111; daughters Brooke Wallace and Winnie Brumsickle; brother Christopher; sister Adelaide; and his mother. Gifts in his memory may be made to the '51 Foundation, care of Treasurer Joe Howell.

People of Frank's stripe (orange and black, of course) are exceedingly rare. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
