Franklin Faust Snyder ’19
FRANK SNYDER, of Newton Center, Mass., died June 2, 1992. He had been retired for several years from his position as head of the obstetrics department at Harvard Medical School and the Boston Lying In Hospital.
After graduating from Princeton, where he came under the influence of biology greats Conklin, McClure, Harvey, and Carey, he entered Johns Hopkins Medical School along with classmates Alyea, Clark, Stewart, and Wilson. While there he turned to obstetrics as a specialty. He remained at Johns Hopkins for four years, developing his interests as a member of the faculty. He spent four more years in Chicago at Billings Hospital and Chicago Lying In Hospital.
Mac Greene was instrumental in having two books on obstetrics by Frank Snyder published.
When he moved to Boston, Frank became head of Harvard Medical School's Department of Obstetrics and of Boston Lying In Hospital.
The Class's sympathies are extended to his daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Lazar, who survives him.
