Franklin S. Cibula ’62

Body

Except for his time at Princeton and UC-Berkeley law school, Frank spent nearly his entire life in the Sacramento Valley.

Frank came to Princeton from Shasta Union High School in Redding. He majored in economics, dined at Tiger Inn, and displayed an intense commitment to every endeavor, including studies, swimming, and friendship. Nicknamed “Igor” by his teammates, his roommates were Pat Bernuth, Jim Carolan, Richard Hokin, and Tom Welch. Swim coach Bob Clotworthy h’62 remembers Frank as being tremendously dedicated and  “psyched up” before big meets such as his senior-year meet against Yale.

After law school, Frank joined his father’s Redding-based law practice and became involved in regional business and real estate, as well as community affairs, politics, and the California Democratic Party. He also was a generous provider of pro bono legal services to indigent and disadvantaged members of his community.

The class extends its sympathy to Frank’s children from his first marriage, Noelle and Mark, who was his law partner; and to his young adopted son, Gavin, Frank’s travel companion in recent years.
