Fred L. Mullikin Jr. ’49

Body

FRED PASSED AWAY peacefully at his home in Ponte Vedra, Fla., Feb. 5, 1994. He was born Apr. 29, 1928, in Jacksonville, Fla., and attended The Principia Upper School in St. Louis. At Princeton, he majored in economics, was on the track team, and was a member of Cottage Club, the Players' Guild, and the 21 Club.

Following graduation, Fred entered the family real-estate business in Jacksonville. He later served in the marine corps during the Korean War; and returned to manage the realestate firm following his father's death. In 1955, he moved to N.Y.C. to begin a career as a stock broker, first with Francis 1. DuPont & Co., then in Atlanta with The First Southeastern Corp., in Jacksonville with E. F. Hutton, and finally there with Smith Barney Shearson, where he was a V.P. at his death.

Fred enjoyed golf, and was a connoisseur of fine foods, wines, and entertainment. He served on the advisory board of the Univ. of North Florida jazz program, and was a supporter of the Jacksonville Art Museum and Children's Home Society.

Fred is survived by his widow, Jacqueline Bennett, whom he married in 1956; daughters Elizabeth M. Drake and Helen Connell Mullikin; and his sister, Beverly M. Cushman. To each of them, we extend our deepest sympathy in their loss.
