FRED WOOLVERTON DIED in Ponte Vedra Beach June 9, 1993. He had built a home there in 1937 and was considered Ponte Vedra Beach's first resident. Fred moved to Florida in 1935, when be was awarded a Chevrolet dealership for Jacksonville area. He added the Oldsmobile line several years later.

Fred was a very active citizen of Ponte Vedra Beach. He founded the Christ Episcopal Church and was the first president of the Community Assn. He also owned a series of boats and started the Beach Marine Service of Florida. Fred was born in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., grew up in Scarsdale, and graduated from Lawrenceville School in 19 18.

At Princeton, he rowed varsity crew, joined Whig Hall, and was a member of Cottage Club. After college, Fred spent a year in China with the Presbyterian Mission in Hwai Yuen. He taught English and coached baseball. Fred's first wife, Margaret, died in 1987; he later married Hazel Crawford, a longtime friend, who survives him. He is also survived by three sons, six grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.

Fred was an active alumnus and class member, attending many reunions and other functions. He also served on the schools committee.
