Frederic B. Allen ’48

Body

Fred joined us by way of St. James School in Hagerstown, Md., where he later served as a trustee. He joined the Marines in 1943 and came to Princeton in 1945. At Princeton he was a member of the football, wrestling, and track teams. He was a member of Cap and Gown and lived there his junior and senior years. He graduated with an A.B. in psychology.

Fred and Betty Warnken were married Oct. 14, 1950. Two weeks later he was recalled to active duty in the Marines during the Korean conflict. Semper Fi!

Following military duty, Fred was employed by DuPont and later by Tenneco Chemical in New York City. In 1975 he was transferred to Houston. He and Betty always enjoyed a summer vacation at their second home at Henlopen Acres, just outside Rehoboth Beach, Del. He devoted great energy to his work as a trustee of the battleship U.S.S. Texas.

Fred is survived by Betty; daughters Elizabeth, Beverly, and Susan; and three grandsons.
