Frederick Blake Payne ’24
FREDERICK PAYNE died at his home in Clogheen, Ireland, on Dec. 4, 1989. He left Princeton in his junior year to join Tucker, Anthony and Co., with which he was associated until he retired and moved to Ireland.
During WWII he was on Eisenhower's staff. He later was director of the Office of Economic Affairs for the U.S. Mission to NATO and a member of the U.S. delegation to the U.N. He also was chairman of the board of the American Univ. of Cairo and a director of Greenfield Tap and Die, West Virginia Coal and Coke, and Black, Starr & Gorham. He was a member of Brooke Century
Explorers, the Recess and Union Clubs, and Whites of London.
He is survived by his daughter Pamela Patterson, his sister Caroline Barnes, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two cousins, Samuel B. Payne '23 and Herbert A. Payne '68. To them we extend our deep sympathy.
