Frederick H. Valilsing Jr. ’48

FRED PASSED AWAY in early Aug. 1991, in McAllen, Tex., after a brief illness. He had lived in Texas since the mid 1970' s residing in Allentown, N.J., for many years.

Fred came to Princeton after five years at the Hill School and two years in the Naval V 12 program at Tufts Univ. He graduated from Princeton in 1948 and had received both Tau Beta Phi and Phi Beta Kappa honors.

Fred was an individual with enormous energy who loved to do things that others said could not be done, and he usually succeeded. His business career largely involved agricultural products in areas from Maine to Texas.

Fred was a brilliant, generous, interesting classmate, and his many Princeton friends missed their close associations with him after he moved to Texas.

He is survived by his second wife, Elleen Vahlsing; six children, five of whom were from his prior marriage to Marie Vahlsing; several grandchildren; and by three sisters. His classmates join the family in mourning the passing of this extraordinary individual.
