FRED CLINE died of cancer Sept. 15, 1993, in NYC. Fred grew up in Charlotte, N.C., before coming to Princeton. He majored in psychology, joined Cloister, and roomed with Lew Mithun and John Gregory, A highlight of Fred's college career was his participation in the Triangle Club, topped by his solo performance of "I Go Pogo" in the 195556 production of SPREE DE CORPS. Fred reprised "I Go Pogo," complete with Pogo stick, in the Triangle Club's 1991 centennial celebration.

Fred went to NYC after graduation to go into show business. He studied acting under Stella Adler, as well as dancing and singing, and put in 15 happy years on Broadway, off Broadway, in night-clubs, in summer stock, and on tour. "What a life for a bachelor!" he wrote. In 1972, Fred joined a company that makes Christmas trees, ornaments, and accessories, and he was sales manager and creative director for Christmas Reproductions, Inc., at the time of his death.

Fred never married but, as an obituary noted, he was survived by "his aunt Miss Mary Emma Cline, loving cousins, and adoring friends." He will be missed.
