Frederick Morrison Jr. ’52

Body

DICK MORRISON died Sept. 1, 1988, in the V.A. Hospital, Miami, Fla., after a battle with cancer. His hospitalization included six months in intensive care. A memorial service was held in his hometown, Delray Beach, Fla., on Sept. 16.

Dick came to Princeton from the Haverford School. During his hospitalization, his school class sent him a Haverford banner, signed by all of his classmates. At Princeton, Dick majored in economics, and belonged to Key and Seal, where he participated in club sports. His senior roommates were Duke Reiley, Charles Conrad, and Maco Stewart.

After graduation, Dick was assigned to the Field Artillery School at Ft. Sill, Okla., and later Camp Atterbury, Ind. A case of pneumonia detoured him from Korea to Puerto Rico, where he completed his service.

Following his first year at the Wharton School, Dick and Susan Jane Hoffman were married on Sept. 10, 1955. They moved to Delray Beach, where Dick was associated with Gracy Brothers in real estate and insurance. He also worked in the travel business.

Dick was devoted to his immediate and extended families. During the Christmas holidays prior to his surgery, Dick called as many friends as he could, reminiscing about many good times, but never mentioning his illness. His warmth and keen humor are fondly remembered by his friends.

Besides his former wife, Sue, Dick is survived by three sons, Dale, Jeffrey, and Dana, a sister, Ruth DeKurkelare, a brother, Rodney, and two grandchildren. To them we offer our deepest sympathies.
