Fremont C. Peck Jr. ’44

Body

MONTY DIED Aug. 26, 1994, at the Medical Center Hospital in Albany, N.Y., where he and Brownie, his wife, lived for many years before retiring to Bray's Island, S.C., in 1992. He was 71.

Monty came to us from Deerfield Academy. At Princeton, he majored in chemistry, lettered in varsity golf, roomed with Grand Scott and Don Scott, was feature editor of the Nassau Sovereign, and belonged to Charter Club.

He left us in 1943 to enter Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons (P&S). After receiving his M.D., he completed residencies at Roosevelt Hospital in N.Y.C. and New York Hospital, before moving to Albany, NY to begin a teaching career at Albany Medical School. Upon his retirement in 1985. he was clinical professor of neurosurgery. He then became chief of neurosurgery at the Stratton VA Medical Center.

In later years, he developed an enthusiasm for flying. He owned several airplanes, had built at least one of them himself and may be the only alumnus to have owned an orange-and-black airplane. Monty was proud of his Princeton background although he was unable to attend many alumni events after graduation.

Monty is survived by his widow, Brownie; five daughters; one son; and five grandchildren. To his entire family, we offer our deepest and most sincere condolences.
