George Buermann ’32

The class lost another prominent lawyer and public citizen when George Buermann died May 11, 1995, at Freedom Village Nursing Center in Bradenton, Fla.

After graduating from Harvard Law in 1935, George practiced in northern New Jersey until WWII. From 1946 until he retired in 1971, he was in private practice in Montclair, N.J., becoming a senior partner with the law firm of Keer, Booth, Buermann & Bate. He resided in Verona, N.J., for 18 years, serving on the borough council and planning board, and as counsel to the board of education. He was also president of the Princeton Alumni Assn. of Montclair and Vicinity. After 15 years of residence in North Caldwell, N.J., George and his wife, Greta, retired to Anna Maria Island, near Bradenton, where he was a member of the Bradenton Country Club and Gyro Intl.

During WWII, George served for three years in the field artillery, Yankee Division, in the European Theater and was awarded a Bronze Star.

George’s first wife, Greta, predeceased him. He is survived by his second wife, Elsa, and two sons: Stephen and George, to all of whom the class extends its sincere condolences.
