George Dean Gibson ’31

Body

Word of George Gibson's death came to us from Charlie Moore. George died on Mar. 3, 1989, at his Uxbridge farm, in Ontario. Three of his relatives preceded him at Princeton, for which he prepared at St. Louis College and Princeton Preparatory School. At Princeton, he was a member of the crew for two years and the class football team during senior year. He was the secretary of Arbor Inn.

George owned the architectural firm of Gibson and Pokorny, in Toronto. He served as president of the On¬tario Assn. of Architects and was a member of the Royal Architectural Inst. of Canada. For eight years, he chaired the Ontario Schools and Scholarships Committee of the Princeton Alumni Assn. of Canada. He spent five years in the Canadian Army in Europe during WWII, serving as an adjutant and company commander in the Engi¬neers. He held the rank of captain at the time of his discharge, in 1945. His wife, Dorothy, enjoyed two '31 tours to Europe with him before her death.

George is survived by his sister, Barbara E. Gibson, of Toronto; a cousin, Dr. Jean Wilson, of Northampton, Mass.; two stepsons; and step-grandchildren. We share with them their loss and express our sympathy.
