George came to us from Woodberry Forest School, joined Cottage, and majored in English. He ran track and played JV football. He joined the South Carolina Club and the Woodberry Forest Club, and did creative sculpture for four years. He roomed with Joe Fiveash, Mac Evans, and Walt Craigie.

George went on to the Medical College of South Carolina, which taught him his vocation of anesthesiology, then went to the Navy submarine school and deep-sea-diving school before doing a residency in anesthesiology at the University of Southern California. He returned to South Carolina and founded his own company, Care Alliance System, in 1964, where he practiced anesthesiology.

George died May 5, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; and his children, Elizabeth, Paula, Sarah, Mills, Rebecca, George Jr., and Louisa. The class offers its sympathies to all, with appreciation of George’s naval service for our nation.
