George G. Otis ’37

QUIET, EFFECTIVE George Otis died Mar. 23, 1992, of lung cancer, leaving his widow, Louise, whom he married in 1941; daughter Cathy; son Bob; and two grandsons. He came from a long line of Princetonians, his father being '06, a brother'34 and uncles in'00, '07, and'16. He did yeoman work on our reunions and directories.

At Cranbrook School George was on the football, hockey and baseball teams and in the Glee Club. He graduated from Princeton with high honors in psychology and was on the freshman football team, manager of HERALD TRIBUNE agency, and financial secretary and sports director for Cottage. He continued with two years ofgraduate work in psychology and then was a social security board occupational analyst and worked with the college entrance exam board. Next came four years in the Army, with the Third Armored Division through Normandy and central Europe, from which he emerged a major with a Bronze Star and Cluster. From 1946 he was engaged in sales, marketing, and advertising research, with such prestigious outfits as Gallup's Audience Research, Erwin Wasey and Young, and Rubicam.

Our hearts go out to the family on the loss of a fine man and devoted Princetonian.
