Body

GEORGE ELLSWORTH died June 29, 1992, in Adelaide, Australia, after a courageous struggle with lung disease. He was visiting his sister and brotherinlaw, Susan and Peter Whitney, at the time of his death.

A Canadian, George prepared for Princeton at St. Andrew's College, in Aurora, Ontario, there participating in football, hockey, dramatics, and the literary society.. At Princeton, George majored in geology, joined Charter Club, played I.A.A. hockey, and was a member of the flying club. Senior year he roomed with Mike Huband, Henry Walton, and Bill Roper. He left Princeton in Dec. 1960, but after what he called "a small sabbatical, " he returned and graduated with the Class of 1963. George was known for his easygoing and friendly personality, complemented by a highly imaginative sense of humor.

George's career covered a number of fields. He spent the last decade of his life associated with the Univ. of Waterloo in Ontario, first with the earth sciences department, and later serving as placement coordinator for the university's workstudy program.

George leaves his widow, Kathleen; two stepchildren; his sister; and his mother. We join them in mourning his passing.
