George A. Paul ’25

GEORGE PAUL was born in Newark, N.J., May 15, 1904, and died in a residential home near Sun City, Ariz., Dec. 23, 1992. He came to us from South Orange H.S. and obtained his medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia Univ., in 1929. Commencing family practice in Irvington, N.J., he also provided medical services to employees of the Hyatt plant of General Motors, which became his fulltime responsibility during WWII. He continued as medical director of the Hyatt Division until his retirement in 1968, following which he and his wife, Lillian, moved to Sun City. He was a member of a number of medical societies and was a fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

His son writes, "He had broad interests. His library served as a reference source to some. of my high school companions. He was interested in music and was an accomplished pianist ... for many years we attended Saturday matinees at the Metropolitan Opera, usually after taking in a museum or two. He was interested in nuclear medicine and hazards and attended a course on nuclear radiation at Brookhaven. He was also concerned with population trends and pollution, publishing several paper on these topics."

He is survived by his widow, Lillian; a daughter, Mrs. Janice Arcidioacano; a son, John '55; and four grandchildren.
