A. George Rixler Jr. ’31

Body

WE HAVE RECEIVED the sad news that George Bixler died Feb. 19, 1991, after a yearlong struggle with cancer. He was born in Pittsburgh, Penn., but came to us from, and lived most of his life in, New Rochelle, N.Y., where for many years he was an active citizen. At New Rochelle High School, he was baseball manager and chairman of the Student Day Committee. At Princeton he roomed with Harmon Brown and Jack Bogert. During WWII Bix served in the Pacific and for more than five years was in the antiaircraft branch of the U.S. Army. Both before and after the war he was in the real estate business. Bix retired 22 years ago. He enjoyed golf, gardening, and fishing, and in the summer would from time to time vacation in Maine or the Poconos. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Frances; by two children, Nancy McGaughan and Albert G. Bixler III; and three grandchildren. To his family, the Class extends its deepest sympathy.
