George A. Vondermuhll Jr. ’35

He came to Princeton from St. Mark’s School. At Princeton he majored in economics, graduating cum laude, and took his meals at Charter. His activities included the Press Club, the Glee Club, and the Chapel, where he was as assistant organist. His senior-year roommates were Mike Morgan, Bill Nicoll, and Ed Gullion.

Following postgraduate work in international studies, Vondy had brief stints in the textile business and publishing before embarking on a 40-year career with Moral Re-Armament (now Initiatives of Change), based in Caux, Switzerland, becoming a director and corporate secretary and living in many cities and nations. Unable to join the military for health reasons, he spent the war years with MRA on labor-relations initiatives in the United States followed by a postwar tour in Germany helping with that nation’s rebuilding and spiritual recovery. He retired to Litchfield in 1980.

Vondy married Rosamond Lombard in Caux, and she predeceased him in 1999. He is survived by a son, Alfred ’71, and grandchildren Nicholas and Isabel. The class joins them in their grief.
